Positive Ageing in Whitehorse

Feedback closed on Monday 29 April.

Thank you to the 1052 community members who completed the recent Positive Ageing in Whitehorse survey.

Your input will help Council’s Positive Ageing Team further refine our service offering and shape our future actions.

Our Positive Ageing service aims to:

  • Ensure Council services and facilities are developed with the priorities, interests and needs of older residents in mind.
  • Support community development, enabling our community to connect, learn, volunteer and participate.
  • Support older residents to connect with systems and supports in place for older people.
  • Advocate for high quality, responsive and inclusive services.

What’s happened so far?

Our Positive Ageing Team was established in early 2023. As a new business unit of Council, we’re developing a new service offering to support the Whitehorse community as they age.

We released the Positive Ageing in Whitehorse Survey in September 2023. We have now analysed your feedback and are now using it to ensure our Positive Ageing service responds to the community’s needs.

A summary of what we heard in the first survey, along with an update on how your input influenced our next steps is now available.

Next steps

Your responses will help us to refine our understanding of what’s important to you – which will drive our team’s actions for the next twelve months.

We’ll also share a summary of what was important to you with other Council teams for consideration as they develop our next Council Plan and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

Later this year, we plan to establish working groups to collaborate on exploring some of the topics you told us were important. We’ll also let you know about future opportunities with other Council teams if you gave us your permission to do so in the survey.
