Your feedback helped to inform the final arrangement of the sports field lighting towers and the level of lighting service.
This project will be delivered as part of our 2022/23 Capital Works program and is expected to be completed by April 2023.
Council is committed to supporting people who want to play sport. The Melbourne Baseball Club is experiencing significant growth and finding a space for junior players to train is becoming difficult.
We plan to install seven new sports field lights at the north east baseball field at Surrey Park in Box Hill to support extra baseball teams.
This action is supported by Council’s Recreation Strategy which identifies the potential to increase the use of sports fields by installing lighting.
The project has been designed to comply with all Australian Standards and features control measures including the ability to automatically turn the lights off to ensure they do not stay on when not in use.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government and Melbourne Baseball Club.
