Help us name the new public open space at 10-12 Watts Street and 11 Court Street, Box Hill (adjoining sites)
This site will become a play space using natural materials, providing a chance for children to connect with the outdoors.
Suggested names for the two new open spaces need to comply with Geographic Names Victoria’s Naming rules for places in Victoria.
The principles and rules that apply to naming the two new open spaces are summarised below:
- Names should have a link to place and be relevant to the local area to ensure the preservation of our cultural heritage.
- Names can commemorate an event, person or place.
- The use of Traditional Owner languages is encouraged, and is subject to agreement from the relevant Traditional Owner group(s).
- The feature type should be included in a feature’s name and located after the unique feature name. ie: XXXX Park/Reserve/etc.
- Names must not duplicate another name within a 5 kilometre radius.
- Names must not discriminate or cause offense.
- Names must be easy to pronounce, spell and write, and not exceed three words (including feature or road type) and/or 25 characters.
- Cardinal directions (north, south, east and west) must be avoided.
