Help us name two new public open spaces in Box Hill

Whitehorse City Council is consulting the community on the naming of two new public open spaces in Box Hill, delivered by Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East.

During construction of the new SRL East station, part of Box Hill Gardens will be unavailable to the public for approximately eight years. To help offset this, SRL East is delivering two new public open spaces within walking distance of Box Hill Gardens.

Once open, both spaces will be managed by Council permanently.

Council is now seeking community ideas to help name these new spaces located at:

  • 10–12 Watts Street and 11 Court Street, Box Hill (adjoining sites)
  • 20–24 Ellingworth Parade car park, Box Hill

Once suggestions have been gathered, a shortlist of names will be shared with the community. The community will then have the opportunity to indicate its preferences, and this feedback will inform the final decision.

When naming new public spaces we need to follow rules set out by Geographic Names Victoria.

You can read a Summary of the place naming rules or consult the full Naming Rules for Places in Victoria document document.
