Have your Say on the Nunawading Indoor Sports Centre draft design

We are seeking community feedback on the draft design for the Nunawading Indoor Sports Centre (known currently as Nunawading Basketball Centre).

Feedback from East Burwood Master Plan highlighted the need for the centre to be upgraded to meet growing community demands.

The redevelopment of the stadium into the Nunawading Indoor Sports Centre will support more people to participate in basketball and other indoor sports including netball and badminton, from entry to elite level.

The new stadium will build on the success of the Nunawading Basketball Centre, supporting a wide range of community indoor sports programs led by local groups and Nunawading Basketball (Melbourne East Basketball Association). This includes:

• Meeting strong demand for basketball and other indoor sports, from beginner to elite levels
• Hosting regional tournaments and events
• Providing a high-performance training hub for elite athletes and teams
• Supporting programs such as Sports Education Development Australia (SEDA College) and Adaptive Sports
• Providing office space for Nunawading Basketball, SEDA and Special Olympics to support their operation

An Expression of Interest (EOI) is also open for you to register your interest in participating in a focus group. The focus group is separate to the survey and will consider the survey results and provide suggestions on how the feedback could shape the final draft design. You are encouraged to register your interest before the closing date of Wednesday 17 June 2026. The focus group will take place on Tuesday 23 June 6.30-8.30pm. All selected focus group participants will receive a free Aqualink family pass.
