We invited the community to help us prepare a Master Plan for three connected reserves in Blackburn South:
- Mirrabooka Reserve
- Orchard Grove Reserve
- Fulton Reserve.
The three reserves cover approximately 25 hectares and form a linear open space known as the Wurundjeri Walk.
Mirrabooka Reserve serves as the home ground to several local sports clubs, features four sports fields, a play space, cricket nets and a pavilion which is currently under redevelopment. Part of Mirrabooka Reserve is owned by the Department of Education. A Joint Use Agreement is being prepared to confirm land management and access to the site. (See our FAQs to learn more)
Orchard Grove Reserve is a linear park with significant biodiversity values and recreational values. It hosts large local events such as the Orchard Sounds Concert and has a play space.
Fulton Reserve incudes Wurundjeri Wetland, which has a catchment area of 516 hectares and treats the water from Fulton Road Drain before it enters Gardiners Creek. It’s also an important habitat for wildlife.
