A New Integrated Water Management Strategy for Whitehorse
Council is developing a new 20 year Integrated Water Management Strategy.
Earlier this year we consulted with our community to gather information to assist with the development of our Integrated Water Management Strategy. We are now seeking your feedback on the draft strategy.
We want to know if we’ve got it right, or if we’ve missed something.
Your feedback will help finalise a new Integrated Water Management Strategy and influence priorities for implementation.
If you have any further questions regarding the draft Integrated Water Management Strategy please contact Council’s Parks and Natural Environment Team on 9262 6333.
What you told us earlier this year
Your local waterways are special to you because they:
Provide wildlife habitat and support biodiversity
Offer recreational value
Enhance urban amenity
Promote connections with nature
Support mental health and well-being
Offer opportunities for environmental education and learning
Many of you have concerns for these waterways. Your top four concerns were:
Litter in the street
People pouring liquids down drains
Future drought
Not enough water available for healthy trees and vegetation
UPDATE September 9, 2022
Thank you to everyone who has commented on the draft Whitehorse Integrated Water Management Strategy. Your contributions are appreciated.
We have continued to work through the information and feedback received and finalised the draft Integrated Water Management Strategy for Council's consideration. It will be on the agenda for the meeting 12 September 2022.
There will be an update on this page once that process is concluded.
