Your feedback

In March 2025, we consulted with the community about a draft concept plan for seniors fitness equipment at Tunstall Park.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey and shared their thoughts.

What we learned is that the majority of residents support the senior fitness equipment and there is a need to promote healthy and active living for senior members of the community.

We gathered valuable information to help us work towards the concept design for the project.

Next steps

We will now finalise the concept plan for the senior fitness equipment based on the community feedback, which will be completed in May-June 2025. It will be uploaded to this Your Say page.

Construction of the new senior fitness equipment is expected to be completed by late December 2025.

About the project

We’re installing new senior fitness equipment at Tunstall Park, Nunawading. This will be the first of its kind within Whitehorse City Council.

The equipment is specifically designed for senior members of the community targeting those with rehabilitation needs.

The equipment promotes active ageing and physical independence for seniors by supporting exercises that help improve balance, strength, functional movement, manual dexterity, joint range of motion and mobility.

It will be located near the existing playground in Tunstall Park, which is located behind the Nunawading Community Hub.

Footpaths connecting the senior fitness equipment to the nearby carpark and Luckie Street will help make accessing the equipment easy and safe.

The concept design for the senior fitness equipment includes:

  • Senior Fitness Equipment
  • Bench seating around the equipment
  • A drinking fountain

About the senior fitness equipment

The senior fitness equipment is specifically designed for older people based on research developed by the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI).

The equipment will be supplied by a company specialising in age-appropriate exercise equipment.

Installation of the equipment is expected to be completed by December 2025.
