Shaping our next Whitehorse Integrated Transport Strategy

Our population is growing - and more people means more trips, whether that’s by car, foot, bike, or public transport. The Whitehorse Integrated Transport Strategy will focus on 3 key areas:

  • Making the road network safer for all road users
  • Supporting walking and cycling
  • Balancing the transport needs in our growing Activity Centres

What we heard - round 1 engagement

Last year we asked the community to share their thoughts on the future of transport to help us draft the new Whitehorse Integrated Transport Strategy.

We heard your ideas to improve safety and sustainability and reduce congestion to cater to our growing population.

We're now creating a draft strategy based on the key themes in the feedback:

  1. Increase frequency and directness of bus services
  2. Support walking by improving safety and providing more crossing opportunities
  3. Support cycling by improving connections and providing more cycling infrastructure
  4. Improve management of the road space, including footpaths, parking and traffic
  5. Minimise road related injuries and crashes.

Find out more about the round 1 feedback in the Whitehorse ITS Engagement Report.

Next steps - round 2 engagement

We are using your ideas from the round 1 engagement activities to create the draft Integrated Transport Strategy.

In March 2026 we'll invite the community to share their thoughts on the draft strategy in round 2 engagement.
