An Integrated Transport Strategy is one that considers all modes of transport and balances them with the aim to reduce congestion and improve sustainability and transport choice as Whitehorse's population continues to grow.

There have been significant changes to the way we live and move since Council's current transport strategy was developed, and changes to Victorian Government and Council policies need to be reflected in future strategic planning. These include:

• New emerging technologies including e-bikes, e-scooters and carshare among others.
• New housing targets that the State Government is implementing, we need to work out how to best cater for these new people and their transport needs.
• New major infrastructure projects including Suburban Rail Loop in Box Hill and Burwood, and North-East Link.

It is essential to have a clear direction for transport and movement projects and programs to guide collective efforts and work closely with transport partners and stakeholders for positive change.

Council continues to meet its obligations as a road authority under the Transport Integration Act 2010 and Road Management Act 2004.

Transport touches on many parts of our daily lives. Here are the key objectives linked to the new strategy:
