The Multipurpose Netball Court and Cricket Nets project at Springfield Park, Box Hill North, has now reached the detailed design stage, and we’re excited to share the latest concept design.

In response to feedback received during the community consultation in December 2023, we've made some adjustments to the project:

  • The cricket nets have been repositioned to increase the distance from neighbouring properties. The new placement sets the nets back 2.8 metres from the fence line, an increase from the previous 2 metres.
  • As part of our commitment to accessibility, we are installing an accessible concrete walkway from the carpark to the east oval. This will ensure safe and easy access for everyone.
  • The drinking fountain near the play space will be replaced with a wheelchair accessible version and located closer to the multipurpose netball court. This will better serve those using the east oval, multipurpose netball court, cricket nets and play space, providing easy access to drinking water.
  • We will add two storage cages with small storage sheds at the rear of the cricket nets to provide equipment storage for the sports clubs.
  • Due to tight site constraints, we will need to remove one non-significant tree.

As part of these works, we are installing lighting to extend the usability of the multipurpose netball court and cricket nets. The proposal includes:

  • Four light poles around the multipurpose netball court at 7.9m high
  • Eight lights at 7m high integrated into extended fence posts around the cricket nets.

The multipurpose netball court and the cricket nets lighting would only be used for netball training and cricket training and be turned off by 9pm, evenings only.
