Concept Design for Springfield Park Netball and Multipurpose Courts

Thank you everyone for sharing your feedback on the design of new sports courts for Springfield Park, Box Hill North.

We are considering your feedback and will provide an update.

Background information

The Whitehorse Colts Football and Netball Club secured a granted of up to $1.5 million from the Victorian Government for two new courts.

The proposed project involves:

  • Building a new netball court where the smaller car park is located.
  • Redeveloping the cricket bays into a five-bay multipurpose court with retractable nets.
  • Creating additional car parking to the southeast of the pavilion.

The new netball court would be used for training only, with competition games played away (at other sites). The multipurpose court would have five cricket bays and could also be used for soccer and other ball games.

The proposed new courts would help address the growth in demand for sporting facilities, especially for netball which has high participation rates that exceed the availability of local courts. This would also allow young people to train for netball locally, without travelling longer distances.

Both courts would be available to the community when not in use by sporting clubs.
