How long will the car park be closed?

The majority of the car park at Sportlink will be accessible throughout most of the redevelopment. Approximately 12-15 of the 85 car parking bays will be closed during construction.

The gravel car park located adjacent to Livingstone Primary School, which is in addition to the 85 Sportlink car parking spaces, will be inaccessible for about 8 weeks in late 2022 to undertake the asphalt sealing of the area. Thirty car spaces will be line marked in the asphalt sealed car park.

What parts of Sportlink will be closed during the redevelopment?

During the program of works there will be staged temporary closures to the outdoor courts, indoor facility and parts of the car park. Access to pathways and parking within the Sportlink precinct will change as work progresses. Closure information will be promoted on the Council project webpage and signage will be displayed on site.

How will indoor bookings be managed with only half the courts available?

Sportlink will work with existing user groups to manage the decreased court availability during works on the indoor courts. The works have been planned to commence from the start of school holidays where some programs don’t run. In addition, the outdoor courts will remain open during this period to provide an alternate option for netball bookings.

What is being done to mitigate against potential impacts of works activities on the local area?

All contractors are required to put in place a Construction Management Plan to minimise the potential impacts of works, such as noise, dust and traffic disruption to the site, and operate within Environment Protection Authority standards.

Will trees be removed as part of the redevelopment?

Eleven trees are being removed for the Sportlink redevelopment, in addition to 4 trees which an arborist has advised are hazardous.

An extensive landscape plan will be incorporated as part of the construction plan.

New trees will be planted within the general area to offset the removal of these trees. There will be an overall increase in trees in the general area as a result of the redevelopment.

Why are the fire services being upgraded?

Sportlink fire services are up for renewal and will be upgraded to current industry standards.
