Why are you reviewing the prices of accessing Council’s places and spaces?

Over time, the pricing framework for accessing Council facilities has become inconsistent. The pricing framework is also not easily understood by the community.

We want to create a single pricing framework and centralised leasing model across all Council places and spaces. This will support a consistent, transparent and fair application of fees and charges into the future.

What is ‘social value’ and ‘social return’ on financial investment?

When calculating the value of something, people will often consider the financial value to be the most or only important aspect. We recognise that when you access our facilities, you experience a whole range of benefits, such as meeting people, making friends, being physically active, learning new things or being part of a community group. These benefits are the ‘social value’.

A greater understanding of the social value of our facilities will help inform the development of a set of pricing frameworks that support a healthy and connected community.

Does this mean I’ll have to pay more to use Council facilities?

We are asking for your feedback on what our facilities mean to you before we draft new pricing frameworks and policies. There is no predetermined outcome to this consultation. However, we do aim to have pricing that is consistent and fairly applied to similar types of users.

What places and spaces are included in this consultation? What spaces are not included?

We want to hear from everyone. If you don’t see the place or space you’re referring to in the list or options provided, that’s ok, we still want to hear from you! It would help us to understand your feedback better if you can let us know what space or place you are referring to in the ‘please specify’ section of the survey.
