We're upgrading your play space (surveys)

At Whitehorse we are fortunate to have 175 play spaces. There is a play space within walking distance of every home.

Each year, Council prioritises a number of play spaces across Whitehorse for renewal, based on their age and condition.

To help shape the design of these play spaces, we would like to know:

  • what you like about your current play space
  • what you’d like to see included in the upgrade

To have your say, fill out the survey below.

We’re pleased to share that we’re proposing additional train-themed play equipment anpark facilities at Elgar Park Play Space, located in Mont Albert North.

The existing play equipment is only eight years old and will remain, apart from removing the train cubby which requires some work to update it. Removing, repairing and replacing it is not very cost-effective, so this piece is proposed to be donated to the Rotary Overseas Relocated Playground program for re-use in developing countries such as Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The extra equipment we’re proposing includes a train rocker, train see-saw, wheelchair-accessible spinner, wheelchair-accessible train engine play unit with activity panels, a rope climbing cube and more rubber train track paths reflecting a turntable. We also plan to improve access to the station platform.

This will be complemented with proposed park facilities including a BBQ, two picnic tables and an accessible concrete path connecting the play space to the carpark and Belmore Road.

The Elgar Park Play Space works are funded by the Victorian Government.

Construction will take place in the 2023/24 financial year.

If you have any questions, you can email play@whitehorse.vic.gov.au or contact Council’s Landscape ArchitectCaroline Martin on 0435 203 801.
