Wurundjeri Walk Master Plan adopted

Whitehorse City Council has adopted the Wurundjeri Walk Master Plan, setting a clear direction for how this important open space will be planned, improved and managed over the next 15 years.

The Master Plan reflects community and stakeholder feedback and provides a long-term framework to guide future investment, protect environmental values and support a range of recreational and cultural uses. It outlines opportunities to enhance connections, accessibility and amenity, while respecting the site’s natural and cultural significance.

Council will use the Master Plan to guide future planning, design and funding decisions as projects are considered and delivered over time.

Informed by community voices

The Wurundjeri Walk Master Plan is built on extensive community input. More than 600 community members participated in two rounds of consultation between 2024 and 2025, providing strong support for priorities such as:

  • improving path connections and accessibility
  • protecting environmental and landscape values
  • enhancing amenity, safety and comfort for all users

In response to community feedback, several refinements were made in the final Master Plan, including:

  • relocating sections of the shared path behind Canora Street
  • retaining the existing furrows
  • provision of a new public toilet near Orchard Grove Playground
Next steps

Council will now begin the next phase of work to implement the Master Plan. Initial actions will focus on detailed design and early improvements, including:

  • design development for the footpath
  • installation of additional benches in Hurter Finch Reserve
  • design of additional kerb ramps along Fulton Road and Indra Road

Further stages will be delivered over time, subject to funding and Council priorities.
