Council is proposing to sell a small 34m2 section of former laneway located adjacent to the rear of a residential property on Merton Street, Box Hill. The land would be sold to an adjacent property owner.

The laneway was discontinued as a road in 2008. The narrow parcel subject of this proposal (Lot 6 on PS614956K) has a width of 2.24m and length of 15.24m and is currently fenced into an adjacent owner’s property. Due to the size and location of the land it is not considered to be reasonably required for community access or use into the future.

As part of this process, the community was invited to leave comments until Wednesday 8 April 2026.

All submissions will be considered in Council’s decision-making process. Following the consultation, Council may decide to sell the land or not to sell the land.
