Elgar Park North East Sports Field

This consultation closed on 4 August 2022.

Thank you for your feedback on the future direction of the Elgar Park North East Sports Field.

We received a large number of submissions on the proposed concept plans with many innovative ideas suggested.

We have had time to consider this feedback and are now working with our design consultants to modify the design to ensure that it best responds to the feedback and suggestions.

Background information

The sports field is currently in poor condition and underused. As an action of the Elgar Park Master Plan, Council is establishing a suitable multipurpose sports facility at the north east oval, along with sports field flood lighting and a new car park.

The major benefit of a new synthetic sports field is that it can be used for an unlimited amount of time (whereas natural turf can only be used for 25-35 hours a week) with consistent playing conditions, making it safer for players.

The new lighting will enable sports to be played during low natural light conditions.

The car park will provide approximately 12 additional parking bays.

These upgrades will help Council address the growth in demand for sporting facilities.

The Elgar Park north east sports field and car park upgrade is funded by the Victorian Government.

Council successfully received the funding in recognition of the disruption that will be caused by a number of Victorian Government projects.

We have developed two proposed concept designs for the north east sports field upgrade.
