Bungalook Nursery, has proudly supported the Whitehorse community for more than 35 years. During this time, it has supplied an ever-growing range and volume of indigenous plant stock to local reserves and the broader community.

Established at its current site in 2001, the Nursery has now outgrown the capacity of the space in response to increasing demand. It has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality indigenous plants, including successfully propagating species that are known to be difficult to grow.

The Nursery is supported by approximately 50 dedicated volunteers who play an active role in its daily operations. Over the past three and a half decades, Bungalook Nursery has provided indigenous plant stock through Council programs and directly to the community. It has also successfully delivered major orders for Council projects, local environmental groups such as KooyongKoot Alliance, and various bushland reserves, contributing significantly to the enhancement and restoration of the natural environment across Whitehorse.

This proposal is to improve the operational capacity of the nursery, enhance workflow, working conditions and upgrade the site assets.

  • Upgrade the 2 existing work area structures into one more spacious site with an enlarged footprint suitable for production activities, sales area, seed storage, equipment storage and meeting and refreshment spaces.
  • Create a maintenance area for equipment storage and cleaning, including the growing media compound and other media storage.
  • Remove access constrictions in operational areas.
