On demand lighting at Box Hill City Oval, Middleborough Rd, Box Hill
We are planning on upgrading the lighting at Box Hill City Oval and are inviting the community to let us know whether they support these upgrades.
The project will enhance lighting quality and energy efficiency to enable evening training and competition for local clubs, including the Box Hill Hawks Football Club and the Box Hill Cricket Club, while also supporting safe and accessible recreational use by the broader community.
Due to the construction of the new West Pavilion, one existing 32m light pole will be removed and replaced with two new 25m poles positioned on either side of the pavilion.
The proposed works will deliver high-quality, energy-efficient lighting that complies with current sporting requirements, while being adaptable for future competition or event needs. It will also include on-demand lighting available to the community in the mornings and evenings when not in use by clubs all year round.
The works are being delivered by Whitehorse City Council in partnership with State and Federal Governments. Installation is expected to take place in October 2026.
