Council has sought community input for an action plan for play spaces and social recreation areas in Whitehorse. Thanks to everyone who participated in our recent survey.
The Play Space and Social Recreation Action Plan will guide the development, upgrade, and management of our play spaces and social recreation facilities for the next 15 years. Social recreation facilities include things like multi-purpose courts, skate/BMX areas, outdoor fitness equipment, parkour setups, outdoor table tennis and rebound walls.
We want to improve these areas in a way that contributes to community health and wellbeing, encouraging the community to engage more in outdoor physical activity and social connection.
The Action Plan will also aim to increase the diversity of social recreation activities that can be co-located with our play spaces. This will help broaden participation for residents of all ages and abilities and be more inclusive and accessible.
Council Officers are currently working on the data analysis and preparing findings report and will return in 2024 for a second round of consultation.
